Emergency Garage Door Repair in Newport Beach

Door stuck open at night or your car shut in? Call any hour and we will plan the visit with you.

Quote agreed in your garage first · Phones answered 24/7

Emergency garage door repair covers the faults that should not sit overnight. An open door that will not come down leaves your house unlocked to the street. A broken spring can trap the car right before work. Bristlecone answers the phone 24/7, asks what the door is doing and talks you through keeping everyone safe until we arrive.

What to Do Right Now

  • Move kids, pets and anyone curious back from the opening.
  • Do not keep pressing the remote.
  • Do not touch springs, cables or brackets.
  • If the door is open and stuck, lock the inside door to the house.
  • Call us and describe what you see.

Signs You Need Emergency Garage Door Repair

  • The door is stuck open and the house cannot be locked for the night.
  • A loud bang came from the garage, and now the door feels far too heavy to raise.
  • Your car is shut inside and you need it in the morning.
  • The door hangs crooked, or a roller has popped out of its track.
  • A lift cable is loose, frayed or dangling beside the door.
  • The door dropped fast or slammed, or a cracked section left a gap at the bottom.

How We Handle an Emergency Call

  1. We pick up and listen. The line is answered day and night. We ask what happened, whether the door is open or shut, and whether a car or a person is behind it.
  2. We keep you safe on the phone. We tell you what to leave alone, and whether the red release cord is safe to pull on your door.
  3. We plan the visit. Your answers tell us which parts to load. We also note gate codes, alley access and where to park.
  4. We check, then price. On site we look over the whole door, show you what failed and give you the total before any work begins.
  5. We secure, repair and test. Once you approve, we make the door safe, fix the fault, balance the door and test the auto-reverse and safety eyes.

Common Late-Night Calls

Most urgent calls come from a broken spring, a door that has come out of its track, a snapped cable or an opener that quits with the door open. We bring common parts and give you the price before we start.

Parts and Options for Urgent Fixes

Torsion and extension springs. A torsion spring sits on a steel bar above the door and twists to help lift it. Extension springs run beside the overhead tracks and stretch instead. Either kind can snap without warning. Extension springs should have a safety cable through the middle so a broken spring cannot whip across the garage.

Cables and drums. Lift cables wind onto a drum at each end of the spring bar. When a spring breaks, a cable can go slack and fall off its drum. Both cables are normally changed together so the door rises level.

Track and rollers. A door pushed out of its track needs the track squared and every roller checked. A bent section can sometimes be straightened; a kinked one is replaced.

Opener-only faults. Sometimes the door is fine and the opener has quit. If the springs are whole, the release cord lets you run the door by hand until the opener is fixed.

Safety While You Wait

Garage door springs hold enough tension to lift a door that can weigh a few hundred pounds. Never loosen the set screws on a torsion spring, never pry a cable back onto its drum, and never stand under a door that is out of its track. Keep children away from the opening and the wall button. If you are not sure what broke, leave the door where it is and call.

Fix Now, Replace Later?

An emergency visit is about making the door safe and working again. If a car has hit the door and bent several sections, we can secure it first and price a panel replacement or a new garage door later, when you have time to choose.

What broke sets the bill. One spring or both, one cable or two, a bent track section or a cracked panel each change the total. Opener and panel work is quoted on site once we see the make and model. A heavy or extra-wide door can need stronger springs, which also shows in the total.

Urgent Door Calls From the Harbor to Costa Mesa

We take urgent calls across Newport Beach, Newport Coast, Balboa Island and Costa Mesa. Starting prices are on the pricing page, and you can also reach us through the contact page.

Each town brings its own twist. On Balboa Island, a door jammed open can block a shared alley, so tell us which lane it faces. On gated Newport Coast streets, have the entry details ready. Near the harbor in Newport Beach, salt air speeds up spring rust, so look for orange coils before one gives out. In Costa Mesa, doors that run many times a day wear out rollers and opener gears sooner.

Emergency Repair Questions

Do you answer calls at night?

Yes. Bristlecone answers the phone 24/7, holidays included. Tell us whether the door is open or shut and whether a car is inside. From there we plan the visit and explain what you can safely do while you wait, whether the fix turns out to be a spring repair or a track reset.

My car is stuck in the garage. What should I do?

Do not lift the door by hand if a spring is broken, because you would be holding the full weight of the door. Leave the opener alone too, since it can strip its gears. Call us, line up another ride if you need one, and we will plan the safest fix, often through spring repair.

Can I close an open door that will not move?

Do not force it. Pulling on a door with a broken cable or a bent track can drop it or twist it further. Lock the inside door to the house, move valuables out of sight, and call us. We will secure the door when we arrive and explain whether track repair or cable repair comes next.

How is the price set on an emergency call?

The technician finds what broke, then names one total in your garage, and you approve it before any work begins. Our list gives starting prices, such as springs from $150 per spring and cables from $150 per cable. A completed repair also makes the diagnostic visit $0. Each service page, like cable repair, shows its own starting price.

My home is behind a community gate. Can you still come?

Yes. Entry through a gated street has to be arranged by the homeowner, so tell us on the call how the gate works, such as a code, a guest list or a callbox. Having that ready saves time when the door is stuck open. Once inside, the visit runs the same way as any garage door repair.
